Our First Marathon Together:

Racing for Inclusion and Empowerment

$200 towards $1,650

This January, my twin sister Nannette, my cousin Cristina, and I are embarking on a powerful journey at the Disney Marathon. We're not just running our first marathon as a Duo Team; we're advocating for a future where every person with a disability can thrive through the power of sports.

Our Story:

Like most Latinos, our family is large, and I have a lot of cousins. My cousin Cristina, being slightly older, has always been one of our role models. From our days as Girl Scouts to attending Iowa State University together, where she excelled as a Carver Scholar and then as an RA, Cristina has been a source of inspiration. I am grateful I was there when her health took a turn. Despite losing her hearing as a teenager and a leg in 2018, nothing can diminish her incredible spirit.

A decade ago, we lined up for our first race together at Disney; it was the beginning of a decade of overcoming, celebrating, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Cristina’s journey is a testament to resilience. Her strength and determination have been our guiding lights.

With the support of the Kyle Pease Foundation (KPF), whom we met while running 5K and 10K at a Disney Marathon Weekend in 2024, we have begun a new season of racing together. We push beyond limits and embrace every mile with determination and smiles. KPF has provided the resources and community we need to thrive in our racing endeavors as a Duo Team.

Why We Need Your Support:

The Kyle Pease Foundation is pivotal not only in our journey but also in the lives of countless others who face physical challenges. Last year alone, KPF helped over 100 athletes compete in events nationwide, providing gear, entry fees, and a community of support and encouragement.

How You Can Help:

  • Donate: Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a significant difference. Your support helps fund essential equipment, training, and event participation for athletes with disabilities.
  • Share Our Story: Help us broaden our impact by sharing our page. The more people know, the more powerful our reach.
  • Encourage: We love hearing from you! Your messages of support boost our spirits and strengthen our resolve.

Join us in making this Disney Marathon Weekend not just a race, but a beacon of determination, inclusion, and the human spirit. Let’s take every step toward a more inclusive world together.

Thank you for your generosity, your enthusiasm, and for believing in our journey. With your support, we are unstoppable.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Georgette, Nannette, & Cristina
